One of dozens of Black Kites circulating
whilst we are mowing, looking for easy prey.

  1. We used to have Red Kites but they seem to have gone. Beautiful birds.

  2. They are gorgeous things. I have a big weakness for most birds and the raptors are high on my list.

  3. Red Kites are irregularly passing through and rarely breeding in The Netherlands; they have been placed on the 'red list'.
In Dutch they are called 'Wouw' pronounced 'Wow'in English. And that's what I said looking at your amazing picture: "Wow, een Wouw" :>)
    Cheers,

  5. Wow! Great shot. I love that they gather when there are food opportunities even though they were nowhere around before that. They love the sugar cane harvest here too.
