  1. Almost a calendar photo. The tree is amazing.

  2. Good for the ducks but not so good for the tree.

    1. Flooding is actually good for these trees. The River Red Gums grow along the Murray River and they need periods of partial flooding where the trunks can be inundated for months.

  3. You have even the trees so huge.
The flood does not seem to be good for trees - or anywhere else at all.

    1. The River Red Gums can grow huge - some up to 45metres tall. The trees not only rely on rainfall but also on regular flooding, so these floods will be good for them not bad... not so good for everyone else though.

  4. Your duck family gives a good perspective on the size of the tree! We could use some of your rain right now. Parts of Kansas have gotten more rain than needed, but it seems to miss us. We are about to begin planting wheat.

    1. I think we would all quite gladly send you some of our rain. We are expecting another big dump on Thursday... maybe that might be a good one to send your way. It would certainly help your wheat germinate!

  5. I guess the ducks are happy with all the rain :-) Great shot. Diane

  6. A classic (and beautiful) illustration of the phrase nice weather for ducks. And what a tree.

  10. Ahh. I love ducklings and big river red gums and floods in moderation are interesting too.
