It’s that time of year again - National Bird Week. So early this morning I counted birds for the Aussie Backyard Bird Count, doing my bit to help Birdlife Australia. All you need is 20 minutes and it is not too late to join.

For the record this year I counted 18 species of birds, 39 birds in total,
including this little Superb Fairy-wren.

  1. I guess it is the female of the species. Great photo though.

    1. Yes it is a female, much less colourful than the vibrant blue of the males.

  2. Interesting. I'll do my bird count just before Christmas.

  3. The wren is always so fun to watch as it flits around doing all that it needs to do. I really like their song. I had one in my birdhouse on the patio.

  5. Such a delightful little bird to have in ones garden. Well done you naming 18 species. Your dawn chorus must be wonderful.

  6. We used to do counts in the UK but they do not appear to do it here, or not that we have seen. Diane
