  2. Don't people use their own food waste? All ours goes into our own compost bin! Take care Diane

    1. It is made from supermarket and restaurant green waste rather than household.

  3. All mine goes into my own compost too and the UK isn't as good a waste composting as NZ or, presumably, Australia. Why does all green waste always end up brown?

    1. I don't know if Australia can be classed as "good" composters. They are certainly becoming more aware of sustainability and re-use. Good compost is made up of not only green waste but also carbon rich brown waste eg straw to aid the decomposition. According to my scientist-in-the-making daughter "the pigments in the chloroplasts breakdown" causing green to go brown. And this would be a faster process because of the carbon rich additives.

  4. Can I see my bit of broccoli that I did not eat? You can be sure if I was served Brussel Sprouts, they would be in the compost mix.

  5. How fantastic! The aroma is hopefully better than the chook manure.
