The elusive native Water-rat.

The Rakali, or Water-rat, is one of Australia's only two amphibious mammals (the platypus being the other), about the size of a small possum and is not often seen. I have only observed them before dawn on cold winter mornings when our water channels are lower. Their shy & quick nature makes them very hard to spot and even harder to photograph. This morning I got lucky… of sorts. It’s not the best the photograph but it is one!
