Farm-ily on Facebook reached another milestone today: 1000 likes.

Who would have thought that my little blog would create so much interest.

My blog journey started on January 1, 2013 as a photo-a-day challenge to find that something special, something to be grateful for each day. It has continued daily (mostly) for 3½ years.

Farm-ily Facebook came about much later and only after encouragement from family and friends. Reaching 1000 likes on my Facebook page is a delightful but surprising milestone.

So Blogging vs Facebook?

Blogging is like an old friend; a friend that I am very comfortable around. It opened my eyes to a completely new world, and gave me the opportunity to “meet” other people from all walks of life. And for that I am eternally grateful. Farming life can be somewhat isolating so connecting with you all on a daily basis is something I treasure greatly.

Facebook for me is like a new acquaintance. We are just getting to know each other. This new friend has expanded my horizons and given me a fresh perspective.

We need both new and old friends in our lives to keep things interesting and balanced.

As the old saying goes:
Make new friends but keep the old.
One is silver and the other gold.

  1. Three cheers for your milestone. Facebook is great for communicating and blogging is a much better format for photography. The best part is that they both are free.

    1. Yes, I agree it is wonderful that they are both free.

  2. What a great accomplishment! Congratulations!
I truly love your photos and I'm glad to see that you're on Facebook as well.

  3. You and I are very different people and lead very different lives yet we learn about each other's lives with interest. I could ditch FB tomorrow, but not blogging and the blog friends and real friends I have made.

  4. Congrats on reaching a huge milestone!

  5. Congratulations on a huge milestone! Like you I so enjoy my friends from around the world.

  6. Gorgeous picture.i am so glad that I found your blog.

  7. That's great. Love to see your pix on both.

  8. Fantastic, especially given your hectic life on the farm!

  9. I enjoy photo-a-day blogs, and happy to discover yours!

  10. I am getting close to the end of my 10th year blogging and thinking of making a change when I hit that milestone but it won't be Facebook … it's a wee bit to friendly for me … maybe Instagram.
