Beautiful Scenery

In Queensland’s Central Highlands is Carnarvon Gorge,
a spectacular oasis in a semi-arid region.

The 35-kilometre gorge was created by water erosion through the soft sandstone over millions of years.

Spectacular walking tracks that took your breath away...

... as did the 11.5km we hiked.

And the locals are really friendly.

  1. 11.5 kilometers! Mind it looks like the walk was worth the effort.

Carnarvon has been on my bucket list for some time. I really must get there.

  6. Dramatic and gorgeous. Those stairs in the fifth photo are a tad scary to my wimpy self.

  8. Fascinating scenes. It would almost be a little scary to walk through some of those areas, but it does look beautiful.

  10. As you said in the comments you really were fortunate to get the light just right for the canyon photo. I've never managed to get that close a shot of a kookaburra. I'm a tad envious.
