Not really. We have been contract sowing oats every winter on this particular beef farm for the last 5 years. They use it as a fodder crop i.e. make it into hay in Spring, to feed out to their cattle over Summer & Autumn.
A huge job. I am curious re the comment, 'oats on a beef farm'. I thought that was normal for you, even though we haven't had pics of the cattle for awhile.
We do a lot of contract sowing of crops and pasture on surrounding farms... dairy, sheep, cropping & beef farms. Yesterday it was a beef farm.
As for our farm... yes we grow oats each year & this year we have a bit of wheat but our main enterprise is lucerne (alfalfa). Sometimes we have cattle... but not a great number for the past couple of years. The only cattle we have at the moment is 6 calves that were bucket raised last winter hence why you aren't seeing too many cattle photos. We did also have some dairy heifers on-farm for a few months over summer helping out a neighbour.
