Each year kookaburras build a new nest high up in the hay bales in one of our sheds.

Take note of the pile of hay on the ground under the nest that they have removed in the building process.

Three eggs this year.

  1. I always get a kick how Hollywood misused the call of Kookaburras in "jungle" movies. It must be fun to watch the families do their thing...

  2. I used to have Kingfishers nesting in the bank by my cottage in New Zealand but I couldn't have told you where a Kookaburra nested. Now I have been edificated.

  3. It looks like they decided on a high-rise condo this year.

  5. That looks like a good safe place for a nest.
