As EC said it is much better to keep things well maintained. A broken down machine several miles from the workshop can be disastrous. I have always had a dislike of working under vehicles (or floors or anything above my head really) although I've had to do plenty of it in my life.
Yes for sure. In this case it was a bearing that had a slight movement in it. If it had of let go then that could have started a fire, not good in any situation.

Much better (and cheaper) than repair work.
