Capturing the stars motion.

It’s not perfect but had lots of fun experimenting with this star trailing last night.

    1. Of course you can! So this image is made up of 38 photos taken one after the other over 25 minutes last night, each photo has 20 second exposure. Then I stacked the photos in software to show the trail. I would have loved to have had another go tonight for a less grainy image.... but with lots of cloud cover now that won't be happening... so this one will have to do :)

  2. Excellent. It's many years since I did these. You may have inspired me to do another one.

  3. And thank you from me also for the explanation. Just brilliant with the windmill in the foreground. I hope the clouds mean rain.

    1. No it doesn't unfortunately. No rain on the forecast at all.

  8. What fun. There will be other nights, one of the advantages of the farm is its distance from light pollution.

    1. Yes there will be other nights. Mind you it has taken me 2 years to have this 2nd attempt. You need little or no moon, no wind, no clouds, the cooler months are better for seeing the stars, no farm work that needs attending to... and it helps to have a house to yourself so you can stay up half the night watching stars and taking photos and no one really minds. And yes we are lucky to have no light pollution... well at the moment we don't. That will change if we get a solar farm and substation next door.....

  10. I tried that in New Zealand but even there (over the hills near Napier) light pollution was a problem. 40 years ago it wasn't a problem here but it all had to be done on film and I never tried it. Now even here light pollution is a problem.
