You are good Graham!! It's probably the lactuca serriola but yes also known as milk thistle or prickly lettuce. A weed is not something I usually admire but the flower was just so delicate.
A truely beautiful weed. I discovered a tiny orchid in my garden yesterday. I took a photo, but after seeing this I will have to improve on its composition.
